2023 World Cup qualifiers: the Swiss to finish the job – rts.ch

The Swiss women’s team will play big on Tuesday at Letzigrund (from 6:45 p.m. on RTS2) once morest Wales. The stakes are high for Nils Nielsen’s last match at the head of the selection: a qualification for the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The Swiss have been preparing for this crucial meeting for a week. A success would be synonymous with a second participation in the World Cup following the 2015 edition in Canada. There is therefore a great opportunity to be seized.

Against the Welsh, who had difficulty obtaining their ticket for this play-off by beating Bosnia-Herzegovina following extra time last Thursday, Switzerland is the favorite. For Ramona Bachmann, Wales have a physically strong team, which defends well but lacks creativity in the attacking phase.

Not easy, but…

It will probably not be easy to score goals“, she says, before adding: “If we can’t beat an opponent like the Welsh, we have nothing to do with a World Cup.”

Coach Nils Nielsen will lead Switzerland for the 39th and final time. The 50-year-old Dane will leave his post at the end of the year for family reasons. He hopes to leave in style with a qualification.
