Ms. Ngoc Bich (living in District 6), a small merchant, looked at the deserted scene at the flower market on the followingnoon of the 29th of Tet. “Every year, on the 29th of Tet, we sell most of it, but this year it is still intact. The price of a large pot of chrysanthemums every year sells for 800,000 dong, this year sold 500,000 dong and no one bought it,” Ms. Bich said.

According to Brazilian law, the vice president becomes acting president from the moment the president crosses the border
Vice-President Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) will assume the Presidency of the Republic for the first time tonight, with President Lula (PT) going to Argentina.
Lula departs at 6 pm for his international trip. Under Brazilian law, the vice president becomes acting president from the moment the president crosses the border.
Alckmin ran for the presidency twice, when he was still in the PSDB, a party he helped found and where he spent 33 years — at the beginning of last year, he went to the PSB to compose Lula’s ticket.
In the first time, he was defeated by Lula himself, in the second round of 2006. In the second, he ended up in fourth place, in 2018, when Jair Bolsonaro (then PSL, today PL) was elected.
The situation is already yielding memes and jokes on the internet. Alckmin ended up paying the PSDB’s bill for having received less than 5% of the votes in 2018, the first time that the party did not go to the second round.
In an internal dispute with former governor of São Paulo João Doria (today without a party), he left the acronym without much fanfare at the end of 2021. Now, Internet users joke, he has turned around.
This is Lula’s first international trip since he took office. He is going to participate in Celac (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States), in Buenos Aires, between tomorrow and Tuesday (24).

A series of meetings are planned with heads of state from Latin America, including Argentine President Alberto Fernández and Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
On Wednesday (25), he will travel to Montevideo, Uruguay, where he will also meet with President Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou.
The trip marks the resumption of strengthening among Latin American countries, one of the hallmarks of the first Lula administration (2003-2010). Since the campaign, the PT has been talking regarding stimulating commercial treaties locally and strengthening Mercosur (Southern Common Market).

Darkness and cold upset many people. On the other hand, they can also do something in terms of nutrition – by eating nuts. The hard-shelled fruits can act as lucky charms.
Troubled thoughts can be driven away with the right nuts. “Nuts are rich in fiber, unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins, minerals and secondary plant substances,” explains Aline Emanuel from the German University for Prevention and Health Management/BSA Academy in Saarbrücken. And they support the body in producing serotonin, the so-called happiness hormone. “The body needs the amino acid tryptophan to produce serotonin.” Foods rich in tryptophan include cashew nuts, peanuts and cheeses such as Emmental or Edam.
Warmth from walnuts
Serotonin leads to relaxation, serenity, inner peace and contentment. Emanuel explains that emotional states such as aggressiveness, hunger, fear, grief and worry are subdued. The so-called thermogenetic effect of nuts is also interesting for the winter period. A study showed that following eating the recommended amount of walnuts, the body generates more heat than following consuming dairy products. Nuts literally warm your heart, says Emanuel. (dpa)
Freestyle skiing: Third success in the World Cup for Zugois Noé Roth
Aerials specialist Noé Roth celebrated his 3rd World Cup victory at the Relais in Quebec. The Zugois showed 3 high quality jumps. In the top-6 superfinal where everyone starts from scratch, he landed without the slightest movement at the reception.
Roth is currently the safe bet of the Swiss team. He had already taken 2nd place twice in the first two events of the season, including Saturday behind the American Quinn Dehlinger. He can approach the next World Championships in Bakuriani with confidence. He still has more difficult jumps with 3 somersaults and 5 rotations in reserve. In Georgia, however, he will face opposition from the Chinese.
Zurich’s Andrin Schädler reached the superfinal for the first time in his career. He showed a jump with a high degree of difficulty, but his landing was not perfect and he finished 6th. Pirmin Werner, Ruka’s winner at the start of the season, missed as 7th for the 2nd time on the last step.
