An Afghan girl who wanted to become an astronaut fell into the ocean
(Web Desk) Maida Hussaini wanted to become an astronaut and for this she also wrote a letter to NASA. Apparently, this wish of the 17-year-old Afghan girl was beyond her reach, but her ambitions were big.
Even when the Taliban took over the country in August 2021 and her family moved from Afghanistan to Iran, Maida refused to give up on her dream, the BBC reported.
His dream was to reach Europe and continue his education. He decided to go overland to Turkey and from there take the risk of reaching Europe by sea.
His mother was worried regarding his decision but Maida convinced her. Her mother Mehtab Forough says that ‘I told her to go, my daughter, may God protect you.’ ‘I’m her mother, I raised her, she was talented,’ she says.
Usually young girls rarely travel alone because the risks are too great, but Mehtab says her eldest daughter was very determined.
Seven months ago, Maida was shot while crossing the border from Iran to Turkey. The fact is that she had a bullet in her leg for 10 days but she continued her journey and did not give up. Her family says that Maida made several attempts to reach Europe once more.
“I was worried regarding him and I asked him to come back to Iran,” says his mother Mehtab. I said to him, “Aren’t you tired of trying to go abroad once more and once more?”

Maida was one of 200 people who set sail from Turkey to Italy in a wooden boat on February 22, but four days later the boat capsized in waves off the Italian coast of Crotone. At least 70 people have died in this boat accident and Maida’s body has not been found yet.
