Samsung works on SSDs of the future with 1 petabyte of storage
Samsung has been working on developing SSDs of the future, focused on delivering storage that scales up to 1 petabyte of space. The statement was given this week, during the China Flash Memory Market Summit.
In a debate regarding NAND, it was highlighted that the Korean would need to improve the physical and logical scaling, that is, it would need to shrink the cells to increase the number of layers with this technology.
While the improvement in the physical part would be responsible for reducing the size, the logical part would increase the number of bits stored per cell. However, there are some technical difficulties that need to be overcome, until reaching the size of 1 PB.
One is the need to store more voltage states so that more bits can be retained per cell – something that involves both the materials used and temperature management.
To get an idea of the size that 1 PB means, just keep in mind that it is equivalent to 1,024 TB (terabytes) or more than 1 million GB (gigabytes). In practice, you will be able to store regarding 2.5 years of videos in 4K resolution, according to a study on the site Cobaltiron.
Despite being on Samsung’s radar for a while, this project doesn’t seem to be coming soon. At the event, the company stated that all the necessary innovations should be implemented in the next decade.
What are your expectations for Samsung’s 1PB SSDs in the future? Tell us!
Akvilė Šaltenė, the elder of Kriaunai ward, gives detailed information about the activities
in 2022 although the prices have increased significantly, which posed various challenges, we are happy that, in 2021 even without receiving a single offer from a decent supplier in terms of price, still in 2022 managed to carry out a public procurement and buy a wood pellet heating boiler for the former Kriaunai school building, and also bought 109 t of pellets needed for heating the building. Starting in 2022-2023 for the heating season, we had to install a new heating circuit for the Kriaunai Museum, because this building is heated from the boiler room in the administrative building of Kriaunai Township, and the old circuit was no longer functional, because it simply wore out due to longevity.
We renewed the street lighting. Street lighting in the villages of Kriaunai and Lašai has been modernized, automatic control panels for street lighting lines have been installed. In total, 5 km of street lighting lines are operated and maintained.
Finally, the issue regarding the expansion of the Kriaunai cemetery, which has been going on for many years, has been moved. The vote that took place during the residents’ meeting determined that the cemetery will be expanded in the previously planned location. Therefore, in the autumn, the expansion works of the Kriaunai cemetery were started – the plot was leveled, an access road was installed and parking spaces were formed, the necessary materials for fencing the territory of the plot were purchased: fence segments, gates and building materials.

NBA: Bennedict Mathurin and the Pacers defeated the Thunder with Luguentz Dort
Quebec basketball fans certainly had a particular interest in the duel between the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night, due to the confrontation between Bennedict Mathurin and Luguentz Dort.
It was ultimately the rookie who had the last laugh in a 121-117 victory for the Pacers thanks to a fine defensive game late in the game from Mathurin. It’s a sort of revenge for Mathurin since the Pacers lost the first game between the two Quebecers by a score of 126 to 106.
Dort made his reputation in the NBA for his defensive game and Mathurin had nothing to envy him in the last moments of the fourth quarter. Indiana led 117-115 with less than 10 seconds to go when Mathurin found himself having to counter the excellent Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The Quebecer’s tight coverage caused the Thunder player to miss his shot and the Pacers were able to recover the ball to add a point to their lead with a free throw.
The Thunder approached a single point, but two free throws by Mathurin allowed the Pacers to take their distance 120 to 117. The latter added a final basket on a free throw to close the books and confirm the 34th victory of the season for the Pacers. This setback hurts the Thunder who are fighting for the playoff race in the West. He occupies the 10e position with a 38-40 record just ahead of the Dallas Mavericks (37-40).
Mathurin finished the game with a total of 15 points. Dort, for his part, recorded a double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle also had good words for Mathurin following the game.
“Bennedict is a player to watch like Reggie Miller and Buddy Hield. They put Luguentz Dort on special cover on him all night,” he said.
“When he returned to the court, he was excellent. He was disciplined and patient. That’s what to do once morest Dort. We must not force the game, ”he added.
Gilgeous-Alexander had a very good offensive game with 39 points.
In his first season in the professional ranks, Mathurin is one of the best rookies in the NBA. In his previous game, he shattered the Pacers team record for most three-pointers in a season by a rookie when he scored his 95th of the campaign.
The Pacers meet the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday while the Thunder take on the Phoenix Suns.
