Declan Rice has made his preference for a move to Arsenal clear, despite interest from rival clubs such as Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayern Munich. The Gunners are getting ever closer to acquiring the coveted midfielder from West Ham United. Despite competition from Manchester United and Liverpool, Arsenal have reportedly managed to strike a personal deal with the 24-year-old.
By joining Arsenal, Declan Rice is aiming above all for the Champions League and sees this transfer as an opportunity to achieve this goal. Arsenal have qualified for next season’s European competition and have shown strong performances in the title race once morest Manchester City this season. The London club are now looking to bolster their squad to close the gap with the defending champions.
Rice’s arrival would be a significant improvement for the Gunners. The 24-year-old midfielder is said to bring defensive cover, energy and physical power to the Arsenal midfield. This season, the team has suffered from a lack of options, which makes the recruitment of new players essential to maintain their competitiveness in all competitions. Currently, Thomas Partey is the club’s only defensive midfielder, which limits coach Mikel Arteta’s tactical options. Rice, who has proven himself in the Premier League as well as with the England national team, would offer Arteta more options on the pitch.
