Nearly 60% of Brits want generative AI regulation to defend work
2023-06-04 08:42:00
Among the various issues that the use of generative AIs has caused in the world, is the discussion regarding whether these technologies will be able to take the place of human workers on different fronts. The novelty should still take time to enter the radar of governments around the world, but a survey by the Prospect union in the United Kingdom already points out that 58% of respondents want rules to be established to protect jobs.
In this scenario, only 120 of the 1,000 respondents (12%) are once morest government regulation of these advances. The union represents skilled British workers such as scientists and engineers. Some believe that the gains from these AIs will outweigh the losses.
The union advocates that action be taken quickly by the government, before the effects can be devastating.
The survey even contemplates the use of technology to surveil workers — 71% would feel uncomfortable having their movements tracked at work and 59% would be disturbed to see the keyboard being monitored by employers while working from home.
An estimate by Goldman Sachs bank says that 300 million jobs might be automated in some way amid advances in AI – that would mean changes to a quarter of the global workforce. In this projection, administrative positions are at greater risk, followed by law, architecture and engineering.

Latest Updates on Bombings in Belgorod – Governor Urges Temporary Evacuations to Save Lives
2023-06-04 11:29:00
“I ask that the inhabitants of the localities which are bombed, in particular those of the district of Chebekino, follow the indications of the authorities and temporarily leave their residences”, indicated the governor Viatcheslav Gladkov.
According to him, these evacuations must make it possible to “save lives”. He adds that shelling once more hit Chebekino and Volokonovski districts during the night, causing “a lot of damage” but no casualties.
Hundreds of shots in the region on Friday and Saturday left at least seven dead and around 30 injured, according to regional authorities.
On Sunday, the governor said more than 4,000 people who fled the bombings were temporarily housed in reception centers in the region.
The conflict with Ukraine, which the Kremlin has long minimized, now fully affects certain Russian border regions, in particular that of Belgorod, hit by bombings and even armed incursions.
The Russian army said on Thursday that it had repelled a Ukrainian attempt to “invade” the Belgorod region, a week following a spectacular incursion by armed men which caused shock and showed the vulnerability of Russian borders.
These incursions were claimed by groups claiming to be Russian and fighting for kyiv. Ukrainian authorities deny any involvement.
