SANTO DOMINGO.- The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, did not attend any of the two activities that he had scheduled for this Sunday.

The first one was an act to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Union of Medium and Small Flour Industrialists (UMPIH), in the Villa Juana neighborhood of the National District. The second, a visit to the third Expo Mango 2023 Fair, in Baní’s Central Park, dedicated to former President Hipólito Mejía. In both, the President delegated his representation to the Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña.

The causes of these absences have not been specified.

On his side, the Minister of Industry and Commerce indicated: “Thanks to the willingness of President Abinader and the openness that you have had to collaborate with the Government, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce has been able to channel the subsidies for 2021, 2022 and 2023 to keep the price of bread stable’, despite the international crisis in the prices of raw materials.

He reported that last year, following decree 31-22 of industrial MSMEs, 15 purchasing processes were carried out for 40 million pesos, from which 42 MSMEs benefited, including bakers.

MANGO FAIR

Expo Mango is a festival that this year has the motto: Technology, Production and Marketing.

The vice president toured the different kiosks, where a wide variety of mangoes were exhibited, among which are: banilejos, mongolo, keitt, kent, palmer, haden and madame francés, among others.

The objective of this activity, which ended this Sunday, was to promote the mango in all its dimensions, motivate national and foreign merchants, consumers and producers to visit Baní and publicize the immense variety of this fruit that is harvested throughout the territory. .

The fair was held in the central park of Baní from June 7. In the same In the same they were also exhibited products made with the fruit and there was a day of conferences, cultural presentations, painting contests and regional dishes, among other activities.
