“It did everything right”: Apple praised by Oculus founder after Vision Pro headset announcement
2023-06-28 07:40:00
Apple announced the Vision Pro as its first mixed reality headset, and although it is not expected to arrive until 2024, the accessory has gained worldwide attention and generated reactions from famous people in the market. After Mark Zuckerberg’s evaluations, the AR/VR glasses praised by Oculus founderwhich now belongs to Meta.
Palmer Luckey said, in an interview with entrepreneur Peter H. Diamandis’s podcast, that Apple “basically did everything right” with the Vision Pro, even though several features of the device have been negatively criticized by the public, such as dependence on an external battery and , mainly, its suggested price of US$ 3,499 (regarding R$ 17 thousand).
According to Luckey, mixed reality glasses “need to become something that everyone wants” before they can become cheap. With that, Apple did not hesitate to present its first headset with a price three times higher than that charged by the Meta Quest Pro.
Another controversial detail of the glasses, the external battery was also discussed during the podcast. The entrepreneur claims that he also intended to use this power solution to reduce the weight of Oculus products, so he considers the idea of removing the weight of the headset battery to ensure more comfort during use.

Keeping the battery separate from the headset has allowed Apple to cram multiple sensors and good processing support into the Vision Pro, which has 12 cameras, 5 sensors, and 6 microphones. This design choice should allow for upgrades in the future, and according to rumors, the company is already preparing to launch a new generation of the wearable.
visionOS j can be tried
Apple last week released the application development kit (SDK) for visionOS, the operating system that powers the Vision Pro. With the availability of the tools, developers subscribed to the platform can finally test the headset’s interface, features and native applications before its launch in 2024.
With design elements reminiscent of iOS and macOS, Xcode 15 Beta 2 allows you to simulate day and night environments with visionOS, use the mouse to “move your head” and look around, use system applications, test the methods of entrance and much more.

Amusement Park Zipline Accident: 6-Year-Old Boy Rescued After Harness Breaks – Shocking Footage
2023-06-28 11:41:12
A 6-year-old boy was scared following his harness allegedly broke in the middle of a zipline, sending him plummeting 12 meters into an artificial lake at an amusement park in Monterrey, Australia. Mexico.
Fortunately, little Cesar would have escaped unscathed following being rescued from the six-meter-deep pool by rescuers, the Tribuna de Mexico reported on Monday.
The accident, which allegedly happened on Sunday, had been filmed by relatives of the little one, who can be heard laughing in the seconds before the accident, while a man approaches the boy caught in the center of the zip line to come lend him assistance.
It was then that the child’s harness unhooked and he fell, to the horrified cries of the witnesses to the scene.
“What a bad experience we had! Thank God Cesar is fine, he fell into the water more than 5 meters deep, the staff did not know what to do and did not know how to swim!!!” Mayra Hernández, a relative of the boy, would have commented on social networks, denouncing the lack of training of the personnel as well as the state of the harness, according to what reported the same media.

Shohei Ohtani Delivers Stellar Performance as a Pitcher and Hitter in Angels’ Victory Over White Sox
2023-06-28 04:33:00
Shohei Ohtani enjoys good offensive performances when he also plays as a pitcher. On Tuesday night, Ohtani contributed offensively and defensively to a 4-2 Los Angeles Angels triumph over the Chicago White Sox.
In addition to pitching just over six innings, Ohtani hit two homers to extend his lead at the top of MLB in this regard. It was the third time in his last four starts that he had homered.
He became the first pitcher since Rick Wise in August 1973 to homer in at least three starts in the same month.
“I think I pitched well today and this year when I pitch I usually hit well. I’m trying to keep up the pace,” Ohtani said via a translator.
On the mound, Ohtani limited White Sox hitters to four hits and a run in addition to passing 10 batters in the mitt. It was the sixth time this season that the Japanese had at least 10 strikeouts. Ohtani was eventually pulled from the game following a total of 102 pitches, spread over six and a third working innings.
“I felt good, but I would have liked to finish the seventh run. I’m happy with the win,” Ohtani said.
Ohtani’s game started off strong in the first set. After striking out the first three batters he faced in his pitching role, including two on strikes, Ohtani dispatched a pitch from Michael Kopech 418 feet from the plate, to open the scoring with his 27th homer of the season .
In the bottom of the seventh inning, moments following being pulled off the mound, Ohtani returned to bat with the Angels’ lead down to just one run. This time, it was Touki Toussaint who fell victim to the power of the Japanese, who hit his second homer of the game to restore a two-run priority to Los Angeles.
With his two long balls, Ohtani now holds a three homer lead over Matt Olson (25) at the top of the Majors.
Mike Moustakas and David Fletcher each drove in a run for the Angels.
The result might have been different for the Angels, who played with fire in the ninth inning. After allowing a run, which closed the gap to 4-2, the Angels allowed Chicago to fill the trails. They were, however, able to pull off three straight outs to end the game.
