Previously, Android did not have too many adaptation functions for large-screen devices such as tablets. Until the gradual popularity of folding screen devices in recent years, Android has gradually added some functions to improve the operating experience of large-screen devices, and it was not until Android 12 that Android 12 L was launched. It is designed for tablets or large-screen devices. Recently, @MishaalRahman discovered a native function called ROLE_NOTES by digging deeply into the Android 14 system, which allows some applications to call SDK 34 to take notes. Here’s a first look at Android 14’s new notetaking feature for styluses???? ????️????In this video, I first launch the default notes app from a lock screen shortcut, then I unlock the device, press the stylus tail button to launch the notes app in a bubble, and insert a screenshot. pic.twitter.com/SIMmcl6Ouh — Mishaal Rahman (@MishaalRahman) July 21, 2023 After the feature is turned on and an app is selected as the default note-taking app, the note-taking app can be launched directly from the lock screen, and a screenshot shortcut can be set to insert the screenshot directly into the note. In addition, if the user is equipped with a stylus, following pressing the interaction button, Android 14 can display the note application in the floating window. To enable this function, you need to open Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Notes App, and then select the default Notes App.

Violent Storm Causes Destruction in La Chaux-de-Fonds: Tornado or Not, Damage is Extensive
2023-07-24 10:51:00
A violent storm swept through the La Chaux-de-Fonds (NE) region before noon. The official measuring station reported a wind speed of 217 km/h. The Neuchâtel canton police speak of a “tornado”. SRF Meteo clarifies the facts. The storm caused considerable damage. According to initial findings, no one was harmed.
The storm didn’t last long, but the damage in the clock metropolis was considerable. Vehicles were destroyed, roofs torn off, furniture in the city, especially patio chairs, was thrown through the air. Dozens of trees were uprooted or simply beheaded by the violent gusts of wind.
Legend: Twitter/Nahel Belgherze
There was a lot of rubbish on the street. Images published on social networks showed that a construction crane had fallen on a vehicle near the station. The vehicle caught fire
Both SRF Meteo and Meteo Schweiz, which own the nationwide measuring network, are currently clarifying whether the storm was actually a tornado.
Sabine Balmer from SRF Meteo admits that the photos speak for a “local but violent matter”. Locally strong gusts of wind, so-called downbursts, might occur in connection with thunderstorms. The 217 kilometers per hour would still have to be confirmed, she explains. But they would be “actually a clear record”.
Train tracks were blocked by uprooted trees, according to Alertswiss. Power outages are expected due to the damage. SRF Meteo had warned of severe thunderstorms throughout the Jura arc.

FTC drops lawsuit against Microsoft takeover of Activision
2023-07-24 11:21:37
The US competition watchdog FTC is terminating one of the lawsuits relating to the acquisition of the games company Activision Blizzard by Microsoft.
Earlier, an attempt by the FTC to block the $69 billion deal in court failed. The now withdrawn case was brought before an internal court of the FTC. The decision reached might give the controller, Activision and Microsoft more leeway to prepare a compromise.
After his defeat in another lawsuit in San Francisco court, the FTC appealed. But once more, the market authority was defeated, as the appeals judge objected to the FTC’s requirement to suspend the repurchase proceeding until there was a final judgment.
Finding a compromise
The Activision takeover has caused quite a stir because Microsoft has its own game console with the Xbox, and regulators fear Activision’s games will soon be released only for that console. There are also concerns regarding Microsoft becoming too powerful as a cloud gaming provider.
Microsoft has now reached an agreement with Sony, whereby the popular shooter Call of Duty will continue to appear, following the eventual takeover, on the Japanese technology group’s PlayStation consoles. This should help eliminate the fear of disruption of competition among regulators. Last week, Microsoft and Activision also extended the takeover closing deadline to October 18. This gives Microsoft an additional three months to obtain all necessary approvals from regulators. In addition, the parties have agreed that the amount to be paid by Microsoft to Activision, if the agreement is not ratified, will be increased to 3.5 billion dollars instead of 3 billion previously.
