ALGIERS- A memorandum of understanding was signed on Tuesday in Algiers between the National Bank of Algeria (BNA) and the General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) to pay tax fees online via the “Moussahamatic” portal.
The memorandum of understanding was signed at the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance, under the supervision of the Minister of Finance, Laaziz Faid, by the Director General of the BNA, Mohamed Lamine Lebbou and the Director General of Taxes, Amel Abdelatif.
The purpose of this agreement is to launch the E-payment service (electronic transfer) via an interface that will be created for the declaration and remote payment of tax fees on the “Moussahamatic” portal and linked to the BNA E-Banking platform.
In addition, the agreement will ensure a free business card dedicated to taxpayers to enable them, exclusively, to fulfill tax obligations, while setting an exceptional payment ceiling on the “Moussahamatic” portal.
Mr. Faid, on this occasion, affirmed that this partnership intervened within the framework of the reinforcement of the strategic links between the two parties able to accelerate the digitization of the finance sector and to develop financial inclusion and banking services, according to the objectives set.
“This is a positive step capable of developing and generalizing e-payment tools, strengthening the digitization of tax administration and improving the performance and management of activities and services in the finance sector,” said the country’s first treasurer.
“Today, we have succeeded in setting a new milestone in the process of reform and modernization of public finances”, continued the Minister, reiterating his thanks to all the actors in the matter “for their efforts in supporting the digital transition of the tax administration as well as the banking sector and the consolidation of cooperation between all the parties concerned”.
Speaking on the occasion, the CEO of the BNA called this agreement “the first of its kind” in the context of the digitalization of the bank in particular and the finance sector in general.
This partnership, adds Mr. Lebbou, will allow “the payment of tax royalties of up to 50 million DA, stressing that “the payment transaction is 100% secure”.
For its part, the DG of Taxes called for a better application of the E-payment service via the electronic transfer launched today with the BNA thus facilitating the procedures of tele-declaration and E-payment.
