Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has been taken to a hospital on the first night of his detention following returning from years of exile. Thaksin had chest tightness and high blood pressure and was taken to the Bangkok Police Hospital around 2 a.m., the prison authorities said on Wednesday.
The prison has not been able to provide adequate treatment, Deputy National Police Chief Lt-Gen Prachuab Wongsuk told Archyde.com. Thaksin was accompanied by eight prison guards during the transfer. The current condition of the 74-year-old initially remained unclear. Its representatives did not immediately respond to a Archyde.com request for comment.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday confirmed that Thaksin must serve his eight-year sentence. Meanwhile, Srettha Thavisin of Thaksin’s Pheu Thai party has been confirmed as prime minister with royal approval, a parliament official said. The coincidence of his election with Thaksin’s return has fueled speculation that Thaksin has struck a deal with the military that might secure him an earlier release from prison. Thaksin and Pheu Thai denied this.

iPhone 14 Pro commercial shows dog prosthesis made with the help of LiDAR scanner

A Apple today released a commercial entitled “The Invincibles” (“The Invincibles”), with adorable footage of a puppy named Trip. Because he was born with deformities, he underwent an amputation procedure and uses a prosthesis in place of one of his paws; the construction of the prosthesis was done using a iPhone 14 Pro.
In the video, which contains scenes recorded with the iPhone — thus being part of the “Filmed with iPhone” campaign (“Shot on iPhone”) — we can see how the company 3D Pets creates prostheses using the scanner LiDARpresent in the camera module of the top-of-the-line models of the most recent iPhones and iPads, as well as with the camera TrueDepthwhich integrates devices with Face ID.
It is shown, then, how the advanced technology that enables the method of unlocking iPhones and other Apple devices can also be used for other interesting purposes.
O YouTuber Marques “MKBHD” Brownlee also published a video showing the backstage of 3D Pets’ work — also highlighting that the prostheses are manufactured using 3D printing. In the video, we can see how they used sensors to scan the body of another dog, Chip, in order to create the prostheses considering the dog’s needs in detail.
The capture process is similar to that of recording a video: the capabilities of sensors are used in some applications intended for scanning, such as Hedges, to perform the task. In this way, the dimensions of the animal, the shape of the prosthesis and information that will be used in the next step, which is the actual 3D printing, are recorded.
In this way, it is notable how the technology of iPhones allows the execution of tasks in a much more practical and agile way, such as scanning the bodies of dogs and other animals for the construction of prostheses. This noble work, therefore, is reinforced and becomes more practical thanks to the technology adopted by Apple products.
Other videos show even more stories of puppies that were saved and/or had their quality of life greatly improved thanks to the work of 3D Pets. Apple is including these commercials in the campaign “Made on iPhone” (“Made with the iPhone”, in direct translation) in order to give light to the potential of its devices.
