Discover the Link Between Vitamin K and Lung Function: Findings from a Study at Copenhagen University Hospital

At Copenhagen University Hospital (Denmark), Dr. Torkil Jespersen and his team conducted a study of 4,000 of their fellow citizens aged 24 to 77. All were subjected to a blood test as well as a respiratory functional exploration (EFR) or spirometry, an examination to measure lung capacity.
Each participant also answered a questionnaire relating to their state of health and lifestyle: diet, physical activity, etc.
The importance of vitamin K
A main observation emerges: low blood levels of vitamin K were more readily observed in patients suffering from asthma or COPD. In other words, this study suggests that people with low blood levels of vitamin K are likely to have worse lung function than others.
Present in green leafy vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, spinach, etc.), vegetable oils and cereals, this vitamin plays a role above all in blood coagulation. On the other hand, its potential link with lung function seems new.
Additional research
As Dr. Torkil Jespersen points out: “We already know that vitamin K plays an important role in the blood. Studies are beginning to show that it is also important for heart and bone health. But so far, very little research has looked at the lungs.”
Additional work has already been announced to confirm or invalidate this link and, if necessary, to determine whether or not the increase in vitamin K levels can improve lung function. In the meantime, “our results do not change current recommendations for vitamin K intake,” concludes the lead author.
It should be noted, however, that three of the co-signatories of this work specify in the ‘conflicts of interest’ section, having received a subsidy from a Norwegian company which precisely manufactures a synthetic vitamin K2…

The first big meeting of the season for Club Brugge was this Thursday evening. In Osasuna, Ronny Deila’s players had to win to take an option on qualifying for Conference League groups.
The Blauw & Zwart had a hard time dealing with seventh in the Spanish La Liga last season. The opener is from Bruges, coming fromAndreas Skov Olsen (0-1, 50th). A hotly contested choice. This Thursday evening, place to the outcome! Hélène Mannarino hosts the final episode of the first season of “My mother, your father, love and me”, on TF1. The French adaptation of the international format “My Mum Your Dad” delivers its latest twists. As a reminder, during this unprecedented adventure, four mothers and four single fathers embark on a stay in a magnificent farmhouse in the Alpilles, in the south of France, with the hope of rekindling the flame of love, guided by so-called “experts”. On site, specialists accompany them by offering them several coaching sessions, one-on-one meetings and activities promoting mutual discovery. What parents don’t know is that it is their own children who are hiding behind these enigmatic experts. The latter indeed occupy a residence located just 200 meters from that of their parents, with a range of screens that allow them to observe and analyze each movement in complete discretion. They thus occupy a central place in the game by opting for certain choices that directly impact the adventure of their parents. On the occasion of the end of this first season, all parents were finally able to discover the true face of the “experts” offering viewers one of the strongest moments of the show. After several days of adventure, the time has come for the candidates to make a choice: choose the chosen one of their hearts for a final romantic date… or leave the adventure alone. Tonight, Siham is the last contender to have to announce her decision.

More than ever, the dads of the program have been hanging on Siham’s lips. Who will she choose between the sweet, elegant and reassuring Martial and the seductive Boris with whom she has a real bond? At the start of the program, Hélène Mannarino thus asked Amber’s mother to share her choice: “I was faced with a difficult choice: rather than making a decision, I wanted to take the powder of escampette and Elodie (one of the coaches of the program, editor’s note) caught up with me in flight. Two people in this house showed interest in me: one awkwardly, the other very elegantly…” says Siham in the presence of all the candidates.
