Police Chase Ends in Fatality: What Happened in Strée (Beaumont, Hainaut)?

What happened in Strée (Beaumont, in the province of Hainaut) on Saturday evening? The police chased a truck around 11 p.m., and the chase ended very badly. The driver died from a gunshot wound.
The exact circumstances of the death have yet to be determined, but according to our information, a man was shot dead by the police
following a chase on the Chaussée de Charleroi, the N53 in Strée.
It was a truck driver, who lived in the area and who was apparently wanted by the police.
Two versions which would explain this chase. According to the first version, the driver hit pedestrians. According to the second version, he forced 2 police roadblocks.
Several police teams then set out in pursuit. After learning of the driver’s death, his family arrived on the scene, and the police intervened in force to restore calm.

Guinean Justice Bars Financial Officials from Leaving Country: Latest Updates on Ongoing Investigations

Guinean justice has banned around thirty financial officials cited in ongoing investigations from leaving the country, in a press release sent to AFP on Saturday.
This ban concerns a total of 34 “financial affairs directors” in several institutions such as the Presidency of the Republic, the Prime Minister’s Office and several ministries, according to the press release from Aly Touré, prosecutor of the Court for the Repression of Economic and Financial Offenses (Crief).
Crief is an anti-corruption jurisdiction established by the military who overthrew President Alpha Condé in September 2021, who had been in power for more than ten years.
The facts with which the thirty financial managers are accused have not been specified.
They are “prohibited from leaving the territory by prosecutor Aly Touré for the purposes of legal proceedings”, indicates the court’s press release.
The military, led by Colonel Mamady Doumbouya, have proclaimed the fight once morest corruption, known to be endemic in the country, as one of their great battles.
Colonel Doumbouya assured that there would be no “witch hunt”. But a series of investigations have been opened once morest figures from the old regime and even from the opposition to former President Condé.
Several former officials including former Prime Minister Ibrahima Kassory Fofana and former President of the Assembly Amadou Damaro Kamara are in prison.
Colonel Doumbouya was inaugurated president and pledged to hand over power to elected civilians within two years from January 2023.
The opposition is demanding a rapid return of civilians to power and the release of all prisoners it considers political.
