Freshly squeezed juices are considered a “healthy” alternative to packaged juices. Is it so?
Freshly squeezed juices are not always as healthy and good as they say. How they can harm your health was explained by Adrienne Yudim, MD, from Beverly Hills.
Increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes. For people with high blood sugar levels, freshly squeezed juices are contraindicated. Scientists conducted a study and concluded that drinking 100 percent fruit juice increases the likelihood of developing diabetes by 16%.
Kidney damage. If you have chronic kidney disease, your kidneys will not be able to remove potassium from your body. This condition is dangerous because it can lead to serious heart problems.
Food poisoning. Cold-pressed juices contain many more health-promoting ingredients than pasteurized juices. True, they are much easier to poison.
Weight. Freshly squeezed juices cannot help you lose weight, and some may even gain weight.
Malnutrition. Juicing cannot be compared to eating fruits and vegetables. They contain only carbohydrates, there are no fats or proteins.
Fiber deficiency. By giving up whole fruits and switching to juices, you will lose precious fiber. You will only get vitamin C from juices.
Drop in blood sugar levels. Freshly squeezed juices lead not only to an increase in blood sugar levels, but also to a sharp drop. That’s why many people get headaches following drinking juices.
Interaction with drugs. They are incompatible with many medications. Those who take medications that lower cholesterol and blood pressure need to be especially careful. The thing is that juice can enhance the effect of drugs and their side effects.
Waste of money. Still, the habit of drinking juice is quite expensive.
Previously, we named foods that promote dementia.

The James Webb Telescope captured a new image of one of the galaxies at the dawn of the universe, as it formed only 900 million years following the Big Bang that occurred 13.8 billion years ago.
The galaxy, named AzTECC71, appears as a blurry patch of light, a far cry from many of the other stunning images of galaxies and galaxy clusters observed by James Webb. However, even this smudge holds important lessons for our understanding of the early universe.
“It’s a faint object that can barely be seen in the most sensitive imaging from our latest telescope,” study author Jed McKinney of the University of Texas at Austin said in a statement. “But it might potentially tell us that there was a whole group of galaxies that was hidden from us.”
Scientists say this might mean the early universe was dustier than previously thought, shedding more light on how it has evolved since the Big Bang roughly 13.8 billion years ago.
The AzTECC71 galaxy was first observed as an incomprehensible bubble of light by the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope in Hawaii. Later, it was also observed by the ALMA radio telescope in Chile. However, it appeared to disappear in images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope.
“Even though it looks like a small bubble, it actually forms hundreds of new stars every year,” McKinney said.
As part of an international effort to map the early structures of the universe, McKinney and his colleagues searched for the galaxy in data collected by the James Webb Space Telescope. This observatory’s powerful and unprecedented infrared eye is able to peer into dense clouds of dust from the early universe.
Before the James Webb Space Telescope, these galaxies were impossible to find. One in five such galaxies remained invisible to the Hubble telescope, forming a group that astronomers call “Hubble dark galaxies.”
“This means that our understanding of the evolutionary history of galaxies is biased because we only see unobscured, less dusty galaxies,” McKinney said, according to the Live Science website.
In the near future, McKinney and his team plan to uncover more faint and hidden galaxies using data from the James Webb Space Telescope, which can not only “peer into the furthest reaches of the universe, but can also penetrate the thickest veils of dust.”

The President of the Austrian Pan-European Movement, Karl Habsburg, has called on the European Union to start accession negotiations with Ukraine and the EU integration of the Western Balkans. The EU summit on Thursday and Friday will focus on the “core question (…) of whether the EU wants to act as an independent geopolitical actor or whether we will continue to be content with well-sounding but empty slogans,” said the Pan-European movement on Monday with a broadcast.
“Whoever seriously examines the security policy situation in Europe will come to the conclusion that starting accession negotiations with Ukraine is in the interest of both sides,” emphasized Habsburg. “We all know that negotiations are not yet accession and that Ukraine also has a number of reform steps ahead of it in order to be able to join,” added the grandson of the last Austrian emperor and Hungarian king.
The start of accession talks is “a motivation” for Ukraine to take further reform steps and its fight for freedom. “And it is a signal to Putin’s criminal regime that Europe will not allow itself to be intimidated by war crimes,” emphasized Habsburg. This is also a security gain for the EU. “The further we push the boundaries of freedom eastwards, the safer the middle becomes,” he quoted a slogan from his father and former CSU MEP Otto Habsburg.
Karl Habsburg also opposed attempts to play off the start of accession negotiations with Ukraine once morest the necessary integration of the six Western Balkan countries into the EU. “Anyone who acts like this is at best trying to cover up their own failures on the path to the EU integration of the Western Balkan countries, which were already promised to join at the Thessaloniki summit 20 years ago,” he criticized.
Paneuropa Austria is also committed to “even stronger military support” for Ukraine. “Any hesitation in the delivery of modern combat technology with which Ukraine can develop technological superiority on the battlefield costs human lives. Both in Ukraine and in Russia,” said Habsburg. “No European head of government can have any interest in having Russian troops on the borders of Poland, Slovakia, Hungary or Romania.”
