The small brand from Dieppe (Seine-Maritime) never ceases to seduce.
The year 2023 has once once more been bright for Alpine. On Wednesday January 17, 2024, the Renault group communicated the financial results of all of its brands.
Alpine recorded double-digit growth. In 2023, the brand with the A arrow saw, for the third consecutive year, an increase in its registrations of 22.1%, or 4,328 vehicles sold.
In Europe, the Dieppe brand is also recording strong growth, particularly in Germany with + 34% and in Belgium, + 32%. In France, sales increased by 26%.
Better still, on the old continent, the Alpine A110 is the best-selling two-seater sports coupe. A success that the model owes in particular to its most radical version, the A110 R as well as its limited series, A110 San Remo 73, the A110 R Le Mans and the A110 S Enstone Edition.
The press release specifies that Alpine is continuing “its international development strategy with its marketing in new countries such as Israel and Morocco, and now has 146 points of sale around the world. This expansion will continue in 2024 with the arrival of Alpine in Turkey in the first half of the year.”
The outlook for 2024 is just as good since the order books are full. “Alpine begins the year 2024 with an order book equivalent to seven months of sales thanks to the very good start of the A110 R Turini launched in December 2023,” specifies Renault. All before the launch, at the end of the year, of the brand’s first 100% electric model, the Alpine A290.

Interviewed by Les Informations dieppoises* on Monday January 15, 2024, Anne-Catherine Basset, director of the Manufacture Alpine de Dieppe, predicted good results without being able to comment on them before their publications.
“We should announce good results,” she told us. But we also announced that we were increasing our pace. Somehow it makes sense, we make cars to sell them. Commercial results should therefore be commensurate with the increase in production capacity achieved at the beginning of April 2023.” A good prediction.

Amid the attacks on merchant ships by Yemeni Houthi rebels in the Red Sea and the US counterattack intensifying, the US redesignated the Houthi rebels as international terrorists (SDGT) on the 17th (local time).
This is a measure aimed at cutting off the pro-Iran Houthi rebels’ funding stream and putting pressure on them to stop further attacks.
Previously, the Trump administration designated the Houthi rebels as a SDGT and a foreign terrorist organization (FTO), taking responsibility for the bombing of Aden Airport in southern Yemen in January 2021.
However, the Biden administration lifted the ban on Houthi rebels following a month due to concerns from some that doing so would make it difficult for the UN and aid organizations to provide relief goods to Yemeni residents.
Previously, a senior official in the Biden administration mentioned the recent case in which Houthi rebels attacked civilian merchant ships and U.S. military ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden at a briefing the previous day and said, “Such attacks are typical of terrorism.”
If designated as SDGT, all assets in the United States are frozen and transactions with Americans are prohibited. Additionally, individuals and organizations under the jurisdiction of the U.S. government cannot provide ‘material support or support’ to the FTO.
When the war between Israel and Hamas broke out in October last year, the Houthi rebels publicly declared their support for Hamas and began attacking civilian ships in the Red Sea in November. On the 16th, a missile attack was carried out on a Greek cargo ship on its way to Israel.
The U.S.’s re-designation of SDGT once morest the Houthi rebels will take effect in one month. The United States’ position is that it may consider lifting the SDGT if the Houthis stop their attacks.
