Pakistan-Iran Tension: Foreign Minister Phone Call and Air Defense Test

Islamabad: The foreign ministers of Pakistan and Iran spoke on the phone amid the ongoing tension. Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani said that Pakistan is willing to resolve all issues on the basis of mutual trust and cooperation.
He added that there is a need for better cooperation and communication on security issues. Iran’s Foreign Minister Hussain Amir Abdullahiyan also shared the same sentiment, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said in a press release. Both sides have made it clear that they do not want a confrontation.
Earlier, Jilani met Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. China, which has close ties with both countries, has also made diplomatic interventions. The tension was sparked by Iran’s missile and drone strikes targeting the Jaish al-Adal group in Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Tuesday. Nine people were killed in a missile attack by the Pakistan Army targeting terrorist hideouts in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchistan province.
After the attack on Iran, Pakistan recalled its ambassador from Tehran. All previously scheduled bilateral high-level visits were also cancelled.
Iran set up air defense
Tehran: Iran set up air defense in case of conflict. A spokesman for Iran’s defense ministry said it had successfully conducted an air defense test using drones and missile shields. Air Force, Navy and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps troops also participated.
The test was conducted on Thursday and Friday in the Pak-Afghan border from Khusistan province to Chabahar and in Sistan and Balochistan provinces. Iran is on alert in the context of Iran-backed Hezbollah and the Houthis clashing with the US and Israel over the Palestinian issue. An Iranian warship is anchored in the Red Sea.

Bhubaneswar: Kerala Blasters will face North East United in Kalinga Super Cup football on Saturday. The result is irrelevant as both the teams have been eliminated from the Super League. But the Blasters can come back with a win. Blasters beat Shillong Lajong in the first match and were eliminated following losing to Jamshedpur in the second match. Jamshedpur won both the matches and reached the semi-finals.

Hyderabad FC lost in Super Cup football on Friday. She lost to Srinidhi Edakano (4-1). Ibrahim Sissoko (five), Eli Sabia (seven), Lalromavia (10) and Kean Lewis (36) scored for Srinidhi. Makan Winkle (83) scored for Hyderabad. Hyderabad returns following losing all three games in the Super Cup.
