Missing since June 7, 2022, the former number 2 of the Special Forces Group (GFS), Commander Aly Camara, appeared alongside the president of the transition at the Mohamed 5 Palace during New Year’s Eve on the night of December 31 to 1 January 2024.
The former number 2 of the special forces, dismissed from the army for misconduct, was in the company of his wife and his son whom he had not yet seen since his birth.
The other surprise during this ceremony was the face of Michel Lamah, although he was given up for dead on social networks. This one too was with his wife.
The three figures of the GFS [ colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, Commandant Aly Camara et Michel Lamah] seem to have reconciled following a quarrel which broke out between the first two in the followingmath of the coup d’état of September 5, 2021.
As a reminder, Commander Aly Camara, accused of theft, was arrested with five other soldiers a few weeks following the putsch which overthrew President Alpha Condé. Relaxed, he was transferred to Guéckédou.
The officer was arrested once more on June 7, 2022, and had since remained “untraceable”.
In the meantime, he was removed from the Guinean army by decree on October 5, 2023 for “misconduct”.
His appearance alongside the president of the transition surprised public opinion, which is wondering regarding the continuation of this rapprochement. We have already learned that Commander Aly has freely returned to his home.
