The Gaza Ministry of Health has reported that four children have died in a hospital in the north of the Strip due to malnutrition and dehydration. Seven others are in critical condition. The NGO Save the Children confirmed this morning the first deaths of these children and spoke of a “massive slaughter” in the enclave. The UN refugee agency (UNRWA) has been unable to distribute food since January 23 due to the Israeli military offensive in the north of the enclave. Since the Israeli invasion of Gaza on October 7, 29,954 Palestinians have been killed and 70,325 wounded, according to Hamas. The militia, considered terrorist by the EU and the United States, has received a proposal for a 40-day ceasefire for the Strip agreed in Paris by the US, Qatar and Egypt. The truce would involve the handover of some 40 hostages kidnapped by the militia in exchange for Israel’s release of some 400 Palestinian prisoners. The political leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniya, has stated that his organization shows “flexibility” in negotiations with Israel to achieve a truce, but at the same time remains prepared to continue fighting. The conditions set by the militia are the return of the civilian population to the north of the Strip and the total cessation of hostilities, which seems to be hindering the pact.

Robert Bourgi: Senegalese Political News and Insights from a French Lawyer and Advisor
2024-03-01 13:49:21
French lawyer and political advisor, Robert Bourgi, specialist in African issues, spoke at length in the columns of the newspaper L’Observateur, on the political news marked by the national dialogue initiated by President Macky Sall. Bourgi, who declared that the Senegalese head of state was “forced” to postpone the date of the presidential election, also mentioned the case of Karim Wade and the future referral to the Constitutional Council to resolve this politico-judicial equation. Here are some excerpts from his interview…
What comment do you make on the conclusions resulting from the dialogue: organization of the election on June 2, reopening of the lists to perhaps allow Karim Wade and others to be integrated, resolution of the transition problem?
“I have nothing once morest Karim Wade. I said what I had to say in another interview, but if we open the door to Karim Wade, I don’t see why we wouldn’t open the door to other failures. I would understand if people would revolt. It would be unfair to open the door to Karim Wade who remains liable for a fine of 138 billion FCFA. »
Isn’t it the President who wants to impose it?
“We attribute that to the President. I speak out once morest this. I compare this to the signing of the decree postponing the elections. I was in France when I found out. I can tell you that the President of the Republic signed this decree under certain pressure. It was not Macky Sall himself who signed the decree.
What pressures? Coming from where?
“Pressure from the political environment. From certain pressure groups, even religious pressures. He was put under pressure. It was not Macky Sall who signed. He signed, but it was not the whole of Macky Sall who signed it. »
And if the Council sets a date, he (the president) signs the decree?
” Absolutely. It is up to the Constitutional Council to state the law. He is the supreme legislator. President Macky Sall will bow and wait for the end of his mandate, the constitutional term and it’s over. He will go away. »
If there is to be a transition period, who will ensure it?
“Normally, it is the President of the National Assembly. But the three reasons for acting are resignation, death and incapacity. None of these three elements come together. »
What will happen now?
“It is up to the Constitutional Council to decide sovereignly. The President, on April 2, is a citizen like you and me and he will go. But, not much time will pass before the Senegalese miss Macky Sall. »
For what ?
“Who is the Senegalese head of state who has made as many achievements as Macky Sall? How many airports did he create? A civil aviation company? Highways? Roads ? He shortened distances. Hospitals. The universities. The bridges. Railways. Sports centers with the Abdoulaye Wade stadium. What more ? What more can he do? It is obvious that a gas Senegal, an oil Senegal would have preferred to have a technician like Macky Sall at the head of the country. But we can’t stop time. »

France Bed Bug Panic: Russian Influence Exposed – Stay Informed with Our Website
2024-03-01 15:28:26
As of: March 1, 2024 4:28 p.m
In the summer of 2023, bed bugs were free in France – at least in the public eye. The French government now suspects that Russia has deliberately stirred up panic here.
The French “bed bug panic” that made international headlines last fall was fueled by Russia, according to the government in Paris. The issue was “inflated in online services by accounts that are connected to Russia,” Europe Minister Jean-Noël Barrot told broadcaster TF1.
“There was even a false connection between the arrival of Ukrainian refugees and the spread of bed bugs,” the minister explained. “This was spread by accounts linked to the Kremlin.”
French European Minister Jean-Noël Barrot makes allegations once morest Russia.
After the end of the 2023 summer holidays, the nocturnal crawlers, which feed on human blood, received enormous attention in online services and ultimately in international media. A shaky video of an unidentifiable insect crawling across the seat of a train in broad daylight attracted millions of viewers. The New York Times described the French as having a “collective post-Covid psychosis” because of their bed bug panic.
Just no bed bugs at the Olympics
People increasingly reported suspected or actual bed bugs from trains, cinemas and other places – proven by photos of the parasites. The government had taken the issue very seriously, also with a view to the Summer Olympics in Paris in 2024, and called several crisis meetings at ministerial level. Numerous classrooms and cinemas had been cleared and thoroughly cleaned, although in some cases it was purely preventive.
According to authorities, the prevalence of bed bugs has actually increased in recent years. Between 2017 and 2022, an estimated eleven percent of all French households were affected by bed bugs. Since the beginning of this year, bed bugs have largely disappeared from attention.
Last year there were great fears in France that bed bugs might spread more widely.
An authority once morest destabilization
France set up an authority in 2021 to detect foreign attempts to destabilize public opinion. According to the French government, such actions from Russia have increased massively since the start of the Ukraine war. There is currently great concern that such cyber attacks might continue to increase with a view to the Olympic Games.

CAMPBELTOWN | His improbable story might inspire a film. Fiona McArthur, a young vegan chocolatier in a remote Scottish port, was asked to make chocolates for the Oscars in March in Los Angeles.

Passionate regarding cinema, she saw most of the films in competition in the local art deco cinema opened in 1913, notebook in hand to take notes. From there, she designed six vegan chocolates, inspired by the best-placed films.
Chocolate Oppenheimer, a drama regarding the father of the atomic bomb, Oscar favorite with 13 nominations, thus resembles a ball of fire. This yellow and orange truffle with a sparkling candy inside, has a “fairly hard shell so when you bite, it sort of explodes in your mouth” explains the 37-year-old chocolatier. A little chili then leaves a little heat in the mouth.

The black comedy Poor creaturesluck of Frankenstein for women, which has 11 nominations, inspired a white chocolate in a milk chocolate case with a hint of cinnamon.
Barbie has its heart-shaped pink chocolate, with flavors of strawberry and rose. But the hearts that Fiona McArthur unmold and place on a plate are not smooth.

“It goes with the story,” she said. “They’re roughly cut, much like her journey through Barbieland to the real world. It wasn’t a smooth journey, it was full of angles.
One of his other chocolates celebrates the film Maestro regarding the composer Leonard Bernstein, with musical notes made from cocoa butter delicately placed on salt and pepper chocolate.

Salt and pepper were chosen to “celebrate the difference and complementarity of Leonard and Felicia’s lives”.
Rupture de stock
Killers of the Flower Moon has its dark chocolate caramel ganache, with touches of lilac, yellow and green, and for Those who remain Fiona McArthur imagined a dark chocolate shell with cherry interior and ice cream.
Before closing each of her boxes, she slips in an explanatory note regarding her inspiration.
Its chocolates will be part of the “goodies”, gift bags worth tens of thousands of dollars offered to the main Oscar nominees.
AFP
Its chocolates are all vegan, dairy-free, egg-free and alcohol-free.
She herself is vegan, and says that several nominees are too, like Emma Stone and Paul Giamatti.
Fiona, who started testing her chocolates in her mother’s kitchen, is passionate regarding it. His “luxury microenterprise” (…) does not use plastic. In her presentation note, she specifies “that trees are planted for each order, and that she uses organic and fair trade products as much as possible”.
AFP
Enough to catch the eye of the company responsible for the Oscars “goodies” which contacted it two years ago. Fiona had thought it was a hoax. She had searched on the internet. The business existed.
In Campbeltown where she grew up, she feels like a minor celebrity. People stop her in the street to congratulate her, she says. Her shop, where her mother helps, is no longer able to meet local demand.
AFP
“Sorry, out of stock,” says a placard.
A small red carpet was displayed in the window. “Fetcha is going to Hollywood,” we can read on a small sign.
AFP
His chocolates have already gone there, by post.
