Mexico City – Toyota has launched the 2026 RAV4 in Mexico, marking a significant shift for the popular SUV with a fully hybrid powertrain across all configurations. The sixth-generation RAV4 arrives with a redesigned exterior, updated technology, and four distinct versions, with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) option slated for release in the first half of the year.
The modern RAV4 maintains the robust aesthetic characteristic of the model, but features broader, more squared-off lines for a more commanding presence. The front end incorporates a more streamlined grille and sharply designed LED headlights, echoing the “Hammerhead Shark” design language previously seen on the Prius. The rear of the vehicle has been modernized with slimmer taillights that incorporate technological design elements.
All versions of the 2026 RAV4 will be hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), powered by a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine with two levels of power output. The LE and XLE versions will produce 226 horsepower, although the Woodland and Limited trims will offer a more powerful configuration with 236 HP, equipped with dual electric motors and all-wheel drive for enhanced performance and stability in challenging terrain.
Toyota projects fuel efficiency of up to 27.7 kilometers per liter, positioning the RAV4 as one of the most efficient SUVs in its class.
The 2026 RAV4 lineup in Mexico consists of four versions:
- LE HEV: The entry-level model, offering a comprehensive suite of safety and connectivity features.
- XLE HEV: Adds refined finishes, larger wheels, and enhanced comfort features.
- Limited HEV: The top-tier option, featuring premium interiors, advanced driver-assistance systems, and a focus on luxury.
- Woodland HEV: A variant geared towards off-road capability, including all-wheel drive, rugged exterior details like roof rails, and a suspension tuned for difficult roads.
Safety features include eight airbags and the Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 suite, which incorporates adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and lane departure alert. The RAV4 2026 also features Toyota’s 24 MM multimedia system, with 10.5, and 12.9-inch touchscreen displays, and wireless compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
