In honor of Cat Day, which is celebrated on March 1st, the NHS asked readers to send in photos of black cats, the most magical of all varieties. These animals often became victims of the superstitions of various peoples: during the Inquisition in Europe they were burned, and in Russia they still believe that a black cat crossing the road will lead to misfortune. Despite all the prejudices, black cats and cats are charming and give a lot of joy to their owners. NHS has compiled a selection of 25 photos of cute, funny or majestic cats.
