26th homicide in Montreal: a man stabbed to death in the Mile-End

After the stabbing that occurred overnight in Le Plateau-Mont-Royalanother man was stabbed to death in Mile-End on Friday morning.

It was a 911 call that alerted the Montreal Police Service shortly following 5 a.m. to an armed attack near Jeanne-Mance Street and Van Horne Avenue.

The police located the victim, whose age remains unknown, and his death was pronounced on the spot, making it the 26th homicide to occur on SPVM territory.

According to investigation, it was an altercation that degenerated between the victim and her attacker, before the latter stabbed her at least once.

The suspect immediately fled on foot in one direction before the police arrived, said SPVM spokesman Jean-Pierre Brabant.

The investigation was transferred to the major crimes section of the SPVM to try to determine the exact circumstances surrounding this armed attack which cost the life of a man.

The SPVM spokesperson specifies that a command post will be deployed on Friday morning, while investigators and forensic identification technicians are already hard at work.

As a reminder, a 23-year-old man was stabbed shortly following midnight on Le Plateau-Mont-Royal, but he is out of danger.
