“38 people were killed and 87 injured in a collision between two buses near the town of Kafrin in central Senegal,” Colonel Cheikh, the operations officer of the Senegalese Fire Service, told AFP.

He pointed out that “the accident was dangerous, and all the victims were transferred to a hospital and a medical facility in Kafrin.” The wreckage of the two buses has been removed from the scene, and traffic has returned to normal.

Noting that road accidents are frequent in Senegal, for reasons most notably the negligence of drivers, the poor condition of roads and aging cars, but this accident is considered one of the worst in the past few years, in terms of the number of victims.
