3×3 Basketball World Cup: beaten by France, the Lions miss the bronze medal after a breathless match

The 3×3 Lions lost the match for third place in the 3×3 Basketball World Cup on Sunday on the Groenplaats in Antwerp. Belgium lost 18-17 following extra time once morest France.

Beaten by Serbia earlier on Sunday in the semi-finals, Belgium had to face France to try to clinch the bronze medal for the first World Cup in their history. Faced with a French team reduced to three due to the injury ofAntoine Eito in the semi-finals, the Lions had a difficult start to the game, being quickly trailed 8-3.

The Belgian quartet, with Nick Celis, Thibaut Vervoort, Bryan De Valck et Maxime Depuydt, then recovered at 11-9 before equalizing at 15-15 with 41 seconds remaining. France took control at 16-15 but carry on equalized on the buzzer.
