The Ministry of the Interior revealed what was reported to the security services of the Assiut Security Directorate that a quarrel had occurred in one of the villages in the Deirout police station.
The ministry said that immediately following the communication, a security force moved to the place of the communication, and it was found that a quarrel occurred between the first party: 9 people, and the second party: 7 people and others, following a verbal altercation over the priority of traffic on the road between two people from both parties riding motorcycles that developed into a quarrel. During which the second party opened fire, which resulted in the injury of a number of people from the first party and the death of 3 other people, as well as the death of a citizen who happened to pass through the scene of the incident.
The injured were taken to the hospital for treatment, and 5 people from the second party were arrested. Confronting them, they confessed to committing the same incident, and with their guidance, 4 automatic rifles used in the commission of the incident were seized.
Legal measures were taken, and the Public Prosecution office took over the investigation.
