50 years of the free trade agreement with Europe: what should not be told to the people

Exactly 50 years ago, on July 22, 1972, Federal Councilor Ernst Brugger signed the free trade agreement in Brussels between Switzerland and the European Economic Community (EEC), ancestor of the European Union (EU). This economic treaty is often cited as a reference, in particular by the UDC, since the Federal Council decided in May 2021 to bury the draft framework agreement.
