52 new customers every day – and this year they are opening two new locations in North Jutland

The profit for 2023 ended up at DKK 1.5 billion – following tax.

The smiles can be seen at the head office in Vrå, as Sparekassen Danmark – formerly Sparekassen Vendsyssel – achieved its biggest result ever.

There is growth on many other parameters – both in terms of number of customers, number of employees and number of departments.

– Our merger with Funen’s Totalbanken in September 2023 is also positive – but the results from Funen are only included in the savings bank’s result for the last four months of the year, says the bank’s CEO, Vagn Hansen, in a press release.

Three openings this year

In 2023, the savings bank had a net inflow of more than 13,000 customers.

This corresponds to the savings bank gaining 52 new customers – net – every single working day in 2023. This does not include the addition of the approximately 23,000 customers from Totalbanken.

At the end of the year, Sparekassen had 344,119 customers – 95,690 of them guarantors.

In 2023, the savings bank opened two new branches, a private customer branch in Nørresundby and a business center in Vejle. In addition, the savings bank established a customer service center that is open both on weekdays and at weekends.

And it doesn’t stop here: Sparekassen Danmark thus states that it is opening three more branches this year – two of them in North Jutland: A private customer branch in Østerbro in Copenhagen, a business center in Hirtshals and a private customer branch in the Aalborg district of Vejgaard.

Fire procent

However, not everything is fun and games: In 2023, the savings bank had net write-downs of DKK 143 million, which will reduce the result.

– The write-downs are a sign that some customers have found it more difficult due to higher interest rates and inflation, but across the board, the savings bank’s customers have a high credit quality, assesses Vagn Hansen.

From the year’s profit, the board recommends that the savings bank pay an interest rate of four percent on the guarantors’ deposits. This corresponds to DKK 272 million.
