70-year-old woman trampled to death; Body dumped in pile | elephant | odisha | manoramanews | India News | National News

Bhubaneswar: A 70-year-old woman was trampled to death in Odisha. During the funeral procession, the elephant returned and pulled the body out of the pile. The first elephant attack took place on Thursday in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

An elephant from the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary attacked a woman named Maya Murmu while she was collecting water on Thursday morning. Maya was rushed to hospital following being trampled by an elephant but might not save her life. The elephant was returning in the evening while burying the body.

Katana pulled the body out of the pile and trampled it once more. The elephant then left the body and returned to the forest. The eyewitness told the national media that the funeral was completed hours later.
