73-Year-Old Men Caught in Attempt to Exhume Grandmother’s Body: Missouri Cemetery Incident

Two 73-year-old men were charged Wednesday in the United States for trying to dig up the body of one of their grandmothers in order to move it.

Jimmie V. Allen and Zebulun Nash, both 73, were caught in the act in August 2023 in Washington Park Cemetery in Berkeley, Missouri, Fox News reported.

Zebulun Nash then admitted to police that he was planning to move his late grandmother’s body, and that Jimmie V. Allen was there to help him.

The law in Missouri requires obtaining a warrant to exhume a body, and the two men were therefore charged with “attempting to destroy or damage cemetery property.”

A witness also affirmed that one of the two men had admitted that “they had paid someone to dig up the body, but that they had been scammed, therefore having to do it themselves. I am sorry for the man whose loved one is or was buried there,” she lamented.

The two accused men are expected to return to court next month.
