The producer price index for the industrial sector for the month of July recorded 76.0 points, up by 6.6% from the previous month, and by 94.9% from the corresponding month of the previous year (July 2020). The Planning and Statistics Authority issued the index for the month of July, and it consists of three components for three main sectors. These are mining, which represents 72.7% of the value of the general index, the manufacturing sector, which represents 26.8%, and the electricity and water sector, which represents 0.5%.
Mining sector: The index for this sector indicates an increase of 6.9% compared to the previous month (June 2021), as a result of the increase in the prices of the crude oil and natural gas group by 7.0%, while the stone, clay and gravel group did not witness any change during the month of July. 2021, and it was noted that the value of the index for this sector increased from the corresponding month of the previous year (July 2020) by 115.1%.
The manufacturing sector: an increase in the index of 6.0% compared to the previous month (June 2021), and this occurred as a result of the increase in six groups, and the decrease in three groups, with two groups remaining stable.
As for the rise, it occurred in the group of petroleum refining products by 7.2%, followed by the group of basic minerals by 6.2%, the group of basic chemicals by 4.3%, the group of paper and its products by 1.1%, the group of rubber and plastic products by 0.7%, and the group of ground grain products and products Others decreased by 0.1%, while the decrease occurred in the group of cement and other non-metallic products by 1.4%, the group of dairy products by 2.9%, and the group of beverages and beverages by 0.2%. While the group of juices, and the group of other chemical products and fibers did not witness any change during the month of July 2021.
On the other hand and in the same sector, and in terms of the annual change, an increase in the index was observed by 66.1% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year (July 2020), due to the increase in the prices of the basic chemicals group by 94.8%, followed by the group of petroleum refining products by 68.7%, base metals 51.8%, paper and its products 16.6%, rubber and plastic products 8.6%, other chemical products and fibers 1.8%, and juices 0.8%. While there was a decrease in the group of cement and other non-metallic products by 6.1%, the group of ground grain and other products by 1.3%, the group of beverages and beverages by 0.4%, and the group of dairy products by 0.2%.
Electricity and Water Sector: A decrease in the index was observed by 0.9% compared to the previous month (June 2021), which is the result of the decrease in the water price group by 1.5%, and the electricity group by 0.4%. Compared to the corresponding month of the previous year (July 2020), the index for this sector increased by 10.7%, as a result of the increase in the water group by 11.9%, and the electricity group by 9.4%.
