Brisbane, Australia (CNN) A 95-year-old woman has died following being tased by police at a nursing home in New South Wales, Australia, police said on Thursday.

Claire Noland, who died last week, was taken to hospital in critical condition following collapsing following being tased and suffering serious head injuries.

“Noland passed away peacefully shortly following 7pm surrounded by his family and loved ones,” police said in a Facebook post.

The police officer who allegedly used the taser once morest Noland has been charged with bodily harm and assault.

New South Wales Police Chief Karen Webb has announced charges once morest the 33-year-old police officer. His name has not been disclosed.

Police said at a press conference last week that Noland’s nursing home in Cooma, Illinois, received a call around 4:15 a.m. saying a resident had a knife.

“The woman was approaching officers when she was tased. The pace was slow and she was using a walker but had a knife,” police said.

The incident was captured by two police body cameras, but the footage has not been released.

Friends of the family described Noland before the incident as frail and unable to stand unaided. Noland weighed 43 kg, was 158 cm tall and had dementia.
