On January 1st, Nicolás Maduro highlighted the 7 + 7 system‘s success in containing the spread of COVID-19 within the country, indicating no immediate plans to discontinue it.

In a Telesur interview with Ignacio Ramonet, he noted that vaccination advancements facilitated a partial revival of commercial activities. However, he clarified that this wouldn’t prompt the abandonment of existing measures.

“The pandemic’s not over, and the coronavirus remains a persistent threat. In response, Venezuela is striving for exemplary pandemic management,” the president declared.

He announced that the nation achieved a 90% vaccination rate against COVID-19. Furthermore, sufficient reserves exist to administer booster shots to the populace as of January 3rd.

Healthcare personnel and at-risk individuals will receive priority for these booster inoculations.

Maduro offered no specifics on the 7 + 7 system’s resumption after two months of unrestricted commercial activity.

Various industry and business groups urged the government to abolish the 7 + 7 scheme to bolster the sector.
