In northern Niger, the police seized more than 200 kg of cocaine in the vehicle of a mayor, the contents of the truck are estimated at 7.7 million euros. Archyde.com reports.

While in the vehicle, the mayor and his driver were arrested Sunday at a checkpoint on the road north of Agadez, one of the hotspots for commerce in the desert. The truck contained 199 bricks of cocaine, or more than 200 kg worth around 7.7 million euros. A press release from Niger’s Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Traffic in Narcotics (OCRTIS) confirmed the seizure without giving further details. The mayor claimed to not know what the drugs were doing there.
