WASHINGTON, Jan 4 (Archyde.com) – Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corp outsold General Motors Co in the United States in 2021, marking the first time that the Detroit company has not led the industry in sales in the country since 1931. .
Toyota sold 2.332 million vehicles in the United States in 2021, compared with 2.218 million for General Motors, automakers said Tuesday.
GM’s sales in the United States fell 13% by 2021, while Toyota’s were up 10%. For all of 2020, GM’s U.S. sales totaled 2.55 million, compared to 2.11 million for Toyota and 2.04 million for Ford.
