Beijing 2022 – Freestyle skiing: Pirmin Werner at the foot of the podium

by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

Pirmin Werner passed very close to the podium. The 22-year-old from Zurich took 4th place in the aerials final at the Beijing Olympics.

The Chinese Qi Guangpu (with 129 pts) won ahead of the Ukrainian Oleksandr Abramenko (116.5) and the Russian Ilia Burov (114.93). Pirmin Werner obtained 111.5 points, following skipping the execution of his jump with five spins during the “superfinal” which brought together the six best jumpers of the day.

Noé Roth from Zug was ranked 8th. He was more expected than Werner but might not reach the superfinal. The two Swiss had already finished just off the podium (4th) in the mixed event six days earlier, alongside Alexandra Bär.
