Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selensky has said he is ready to withdraw from NATO membership if Russian President Vladimir Putin agrees to withdraw Russian troops from Ukraine. He said in a televised interview that he would discuss the decision not to seek NATO membership if Putin promised military withdrawal from Ukraine and the security of the people. Selensky reiterated his readiness to hold direct talks with Putin.
Russia has said talks with Ukraine have not yet begun. Russia has demanded that countries that can influence Ukraine respond positively to the talks. Representatives of the two countries continued their talks yesterday but no progress was made.
