The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) team detained in Mangush in Ukraine was released overnight from Monday to Tuesday. The organization told Geneva ‘its great relief and that of the families’.
The team now wants to continue preparations for possible evacuations from Mariupol. This incident ‘shows how volatile and complicated the operation is’ to ensure safe passage around Mariupol, the organization said. ICRC staff have been trying since Friday to reach this besieged city where around 150,000 people are still believed to be.
