Curling: a six shot for Switzerland – rts.ch

Alina Pätz and Sven Michel pulled off a rare masterstroke at the Mixed Doubles World Cup in Thônex. The duo scored 6 points in the same end to edge Olympic champions Italy 11-7.

A shot of 6 is the maximum possible in mixed competition. The Zurich and the Bernese realized it in the 1st end, killing all suspense.

In classic 4-man curling, the maximum possible is 8 points. Alina Pätz had already achieved this maximum feat once morest Denmark at the 2021 Worlds in Silvana Tirinzoni’s team which had won gold. It is the only shot of 8 ever recorded in the history of the Worlds, in 106 tournaments.

Pätz/Michel are playing a second match today at the end of the followingnoon at Sous-Moulin, once morest New Zealand. After seven matches, Switzerland shares 1st place with Italy, Japan, Norway and Sweden.
