At the turn of the 80s and 90s of the 20th century, the only Dodge SUV was the Ramcharger, an adaptation of the popular Ram pickup in the spirit of the Chevrolet K5 Blazer and Ford Bronco models. But the Ramcharger had a frame structure and a three-door body. In order for Dodge to make money, it needed a more popular model, but the problem was the lack of funds – it was possible to make either a Jeep SUV or a Dodge SUV.
