Noted Analyst Michael Pakter believes that Sony in the face of a tough confrontation with Microsoft, you should buy the company’s gaming group Warner Bros. Discovery, rumored to be up for sale. But with one condition — PlayStation should be given the opportunity to create games under popular licenses. Without them, the WB Games studios are of little value, the expert believes.
“If Sony had acted wisely, they would have made a move towards buying Warner Bros. Games. But this division is not worth the money without the rights to work with DC Comics franchises. So there are questions here — Is Warner Bros. ready? grant Sony a long-term license to use their IPs? Sony might pay a fixed amount per year — 5.50 million… renewable.
If these studios can’t make new games in the Harry Potter universe, Lord of the Rings, DC… Then there’s no point in buying them. Yes, there are other interesting series there, like Mortal Kombat and Injustice, but once more, DC characters appear in Injustice … And these two game series — the only significant ones in the Warner Bros. arsenal that I can imagine selling completely,” said Pakter.

- Avalanche (Hogwarts Legacy);
- WB Games Montréal (Gotham Knights).
According to the latest rumors, in addition to Sony, Microsoft, EA, Take-Two, NetEase, Tencent and PUBG Corp are interested in them.
