CBI will not hand over Sanjith’s murder Murder of RSS worker Sanjith | Kerala HC dismisses plea seeking CBI probe | High Court

Kochi: The Kerala High Court has rejected a petition seeking transfer of the murder case of RSS activist Sanjith to the CBI. The High Court order was issued on a petition filed by Sanjit’s wife Arshika. The petitioner contended that the banned organizations were involved in the murder and that the case should be referred to the CBI as the probe should be extended to other states.

The government had told the court that the investigation was on the right track and that the Kerala police had been able to trace and apprehend the culprits and therefore there was no need to leave the investigation to the CBI. Accepting this, the court ruled that a CBI inquiry was not necessary.

Sanjith, who was traveling with his wife on a bike, was hacked to death by a five-member gang in his car on November 15 last year. The district police chief had confirmed that the murder was politically motivated. The court also directed the police chief to oversee the investigation of the case until it is ascertained that the last accused has also been arrested.
