A mysterious mega-yacht worth an estimated 700 million dollars (636 million euros), the name of the owner of which has not been made public and which seemed to be regarding to leave, was immobilized on Friday by the authorities Italian.
The investigation by the Italian authorities “established significant economic and business ties between the person who officially owns the ship Scheherazade and prominent figures in the Russian government“as well as Russian figures sanctioned by the West following the invasion of Ukraine,” said a statement from the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance.
As a result of this investigationthe Minister of Economy and Finance Daniele Franco signed a decree of immobilizationof the ship, the statement added.
In dry dock for several months in the Italian region of Tuscany, the ship was launched and seemed ready to leave, an AFP photographer noted on Friday.
