Total ban on sugar exports in food-starved Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the decision on Monday to avoid regional shortages and maintain rates. The Prime Minister said that the order should be strictly enforced by the officials and strong action will be taken once morest those who fall short.
Legal action will be taken once morest the hoarders. Consumers have complained that the shortage in utility stores across the country has increased following the government announced a reduction in food prices in observance of Ramadan. The ban was imposed in view of this. A major food crisis is reported in Pakistan’s provinces of Balochistan, Khyber and Sindh. Apart from these, the country is also facing water scarcity.
