Toyo Tires launched airless tires under the name Noair back in 2006 and durability has been the biggest concern for developers ever since. At the same time, the Japanese patented a design with crossed spokes, reminiscent of folding chairs: it is they who absorb shocks from road irregularities, replacing the missing air.
The company produces airless tires, but in small batches, as Japanese law prohibits their use on public roads. The main buyers of such tires are the owners of golf clubs and amusement parks, where Noair is used on cars plying on private property.
