Gas leak in the center of Brussels: “A security perimeter remains in force, but the evacuation of the buildings has been lifted”

The firefighters left, Tuesday around 10:50 am, the scene of a gas leak in the rue du Pont Neuf in Brussels, they communicated. “A small perimeter remains in effect, but the evacuation of buildings has been lifted”said Walter Derieuw, spokesperson for the Brussels fire brigade.

“Sibelga will now deploy welders to permanently seal the leak. Only a few users of the gas network have been inconvenienced”, added Walter Derieuw.

On Monday around 7.45 a.m., a gas leak in a medium pressure pipe occurred on a construction site near the road, rue du Pont Neuf in Brussels. Two office buildings, located on Boulevard Emile Jacqmain, had to be evacuated.
