Police director changed in Santiago

The director of the Cibao Central Regional Command of the Policeman National in the midst of a wave of violence that affects the population in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros.

The general director of the body of order, Major General Eduardo Alberto Then, installed Brigadier General Claudio González Mosquete as the new commander in that city of Ciba, replacing Brigadier General Ernesto Rodríguez García.

Rodríguez García has been criticized by representatives of different sectors of Santiago society for the high levels of crime and other criminal acts recorded in recent weeks.

Santiago is experiencing a wave of crimes, collective assaults and other criminal acts. There are 11 violent deaths that have been recorded in sectors of the city in the last nine days. For none of these cases have the body of order or the Public Ministry arrested those responsible.

In addition to the director of the Central Cibao Regional Command, Eduardo Alberto Then reported changes in the supervisory offices and barracks in the Santiago province.

The general director of the uniform assured that the changes are due to routine actions.

He announced the integration of 150 additional agents, as well as 12 four-wheel drive vehicles and 12 motorcycles for patrolling.

He warned that from the organization he directs they will go out to look for the criminals where he wants them to hide.

“Today a tenacious persecution against the offenders of the law will begin,” said the general director of the Policeman National.

The new police commander in Santiago promised to restore the trust of citizens through visits to educational centers and meetings with the directors of the neighborhood associations.
