Sepp Straka started the Scottish Open of Golfers with a round of 71 (1 over par) and thus shared 51st place at the start.
The Austro-American made two bogeys on the first two holes on Thursday on the course in North Berwick. Straka made up for lost strokes with birdies on holes 5 and 16 before the 29-year-old conceded another bogey on the 17th hole.
In the lead is the American Cameron Tringale, who with a strong 61 (9 under par) gained a three-stroke lead over the competition.
