The Asus Zenfone 9 release date has been set, which is good news for those who prefer modern phones to be smaller.
Asus will hold a launch event for its next small flagship on July 28 at 14:00 GMT / 15:00 CEST. You can watch the stream over here.
The company promises “improved cameras, one-handed user interface design, long-lasting battery and amazing performance.” Asus Zenfone 8 (picture). Judging by the “ultrafast display” tag, the Zenfone 9 should match its predecessor’s 120Hz display.
Coming to the appearance department, Asus says the Zenfone 9 has been “completely redesigned” and is “the most modern Zenfone ever.”
Asus also confirms that the Zenfone 9 will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

Detailing the one-handed user interface, Asus says the Zenfone 9 will feature “a new, more intuitive way to control the device, with improved UI features for easy one-handed use.”
The Asus Zenfone 8 is a low-key favorite of 2021. In its 4.5-star rating, our editor Max praised the phone for offering something unique: “a 12-inch Android iPhone with top-of-the-line specs.”
It’s rare to find an Android phone this small, and even rarer, to find a small phone with better performance and a better OLED screen. The camera setup might have been done with the improvements, and the battery life isn’t great.
But it does get us even more excited regarding the Zenfone 9. The way forward for small phone dominance is very clear now.
