In a statement issued by his media office, the Syndicate of Pharmacists of Lebanon, Joe Salloum, warned of the massive incursion of smuggled drugs in the Lebanese markets, especially Turkish ones, which enter Lebanon without accountability or supervision, and are now sold openly in “shops” and through social networking sites.
He pointed out that “the largest part of these medicines is counterfeit, and the other part has become a deadly poison because it was not preserved in the correct ways and health standards.”
He called on all stakeholders, especially the security and judicial agencies, to “stop this farce and adopt the syndicate’s strategy by providing good medicine for patients.”
He also called for “providing all financial support to the Ministry of Health in order to secure medicines, especially cancer medicines that cannot be delayed.”
