Algerian athlete Djamel Sedjati won the silver medal in the 800m final at the 2022 World Athletics Championships, on the night of Saturday to Sunday.
Overpowered in the last 50 meters, the 23-year-old runner finished with a time of (1:44.14). He is ahead of Canadian Marco Arop (1:44.28). The gold medal went to the very experienced Kenyan athlete Emmanuel Korir (1:43.71).
The other Algerian in this 800m final, Slimane Moula, finished in 5th place. Lacking experience, the native of Tizi-Ouzou mismanaged his race tactically.
A great success for the two Algerian athletes who are taking part for the first time in their careers in the World Athletics Championships. A good omen for the Algerian middle distance.
