US natural gas futures fell 5% on Tuesday, following news of another delay in resuming initial operations at the Freeport LNG export terminal in Texas.
At the end of the session, US gas contracts for September delivery fell by 48.7 cents to $9.193 per million British thermal units.
This comes after a jump earlier today in US gas prices, above $10 per million British thermal units, for the first time in 14 years, as a result of rising prices in Europe and lack of supplies.
Globally, gas prices are estimated at $77 per million British thermal units in Europe and about $56 in Asia.
